Leningrad & The Tiger Lillies DVD?!

First off I just want to say how much I like the Leningrad album! I was search for some more information about it last night - and look what I found:

Check again, it says $19.99, which is of course well worth it.

Grrrrrrrrrrr..... Evil or Very Mad

So it arrived today... But they sent the version that only includes the CD and not the DVD! I had a feeling this was going to happen... I didn't realize this until like 2 hours ago, but man, there's like 3 or 4 different releases of this crazy thing! Two versions include the DVD, but I'm not sure if there's any differences besides the cover art...

Soooo... I guess I'll keep looking for a copy! Please do let me know if anyone happens to come across it!

And I just thought this was kind of neat - apparently the album was also released on cassette! Cassettes are still released in Russia?:

I'm sick that this DVD is so obscure, how the hell did that happen?! Some of the best footage of the band I've ever seen, and in very unusual circumstances I must add. It was fascinating to see how the two bands communicated musically, especially considering the enormous language barrier that faced them.

It's about an hour long, and most of it is in Russian. The Lillies themselves are not really dubbed however, so all that they say can be plainly understood.

The Lillies arrive in Russia:

Adrian Huge and his trusty camera play a large role in this DVD I'm happy to say! Occasionally the movie actually cuts away to the little films that Huge is constantly making along the way, and we get to see the events entirely from his perspective! It's a really endearing element to this DVD:

One of the most interesting things on the whole disk, was this footage of Martyn mimicking the words to his songs, I think so that the Leningrad guys would have a sense of the timing without necessarily having the vocals... I think. In any case, it was amazing stuff to watch - he's not actually singing at all in the photos directly below, but he acts it all out as though he where!:

Well I skipped over a ton, and left a lot of people out, but I think that gives a pretty good sense of what's on here! Hope you guys enjoyed all that!

Hey if anyone of you are going to be going to see them live anytime soon, you should see if they carry this DVD at the shows! Don't worry, I don't want anyone to pick it up for me if they do Wink

it looks like I'll be exchanging the CD Amazon sent me for what I actually ordered... So I don't need it! But it would be interesting to know if they were selling this readily, if not then it's a shame! I can't even find one mention of it anywhere on the website!

I'll probably post some more thoughts later... I sleeeeeeeeep now....

Hah, remember when I said Amazon was going to exchange the album they sent for the album+DVD version? Guess what they sent? Another fucking copy of just Huinya *Sigh* I'm beginning to think it's impossible to find an actual hard copy of this... All the sellers that say they have it, just steal an image of the actual thing for their sales/auctions, from an Ebay seller who actualy used to have copies, and don't bother to mention that they don't have the real thing...

Russiandvd_usa on Ebay? *Looks* Wow, thats cool, he/she must have got more in! They used to carry the CD+DVD set in the past, and also used to sell it through Amazon as well.... A few months ago I emailed them to see if they really had it, and they told me they were out but were trying to get more... And it looks like they were successful! I just sent them another email to check to see if they really have it... If they respond back in time, I'll definitely buy a copy Very Happy

I bought one yesterday. They keep saying in the ad that it's for a DVD + CD and there should still be two copies left.

I bought a copy, lol. Hopefully it's the set - I'm a little paranoid as I've been through this a few times now *Glares at the three copies of Huinya* They are a very reputable Ebay seller though, and actually I've bought movies from them before... So I'm sure it will be fine. I look forward to it's arrival!
